Junior System Administrator

Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Backup System Administrator to manage and maintain our organization's backup and recovery infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Veritas, HP, Dell, and Azure Cloud backup systems, ensuring efficient backup solutions and restoration validation to protect data integrity across various environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor backup systems including Veritas NetBackup, HP Data Protector, Dell Networker, and Azure cloud-based backup solutions.
• Implement, configure, and optimize backup strategies for enterprise-level applications and critical systems.
• Ensure the timely and accurate backup of data to prevent loss and support business continuity.
• Conduct regular validation and testing of backup restoration procedures to ensure data integrity and successful recovery in case of disaster.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring they are aligned with business continuity objectives.
• Coordinate and execute data restores, ensuring minimal downtime during outages or system failures.
• Monitor backup jobs to identify and troubleshoot failed backups, ensuring quick resolution to maintain data availability.
• Generate reports on backup status, failures, and capacity utilization for management review.
• Regularly assess backup and restoration processes for improvements and efficiency.

Desired candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 10-15 years of experience in managing enterprise backup and recovery systems, specifically with Veritas, HP Data Protector, Dell Networker, and Azure Cloud backup solutions.
• Strong knowledge of backup and restoration processes, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments, including data protection strategies for Azure Cloud.
• Expertise in troubleshooting backup failures and performance issues.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automating backup tasks and validation processes.
• Understanding of security and compliance requirements for backup systems.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

• Certification in Veritas NetBackup, Dell EMC Networker, Microsoft Azure, or similar technologies.
• Experience with additional cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
• Experience in implementing backup strategies for virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
