Our client in Abu Dhabi is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Land Surveyor to join their growing surveying team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin their career in land surveying and gain hands-on experience in the field. The Junior Land Surveyor will assist senior surveyors with a variety of tasks, from field data collection to processing and reporting, supporting a range of land development, construction, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Field Survey Assistance: Support senior surveyors in conducting land surveys, including measuring property boundaries, land contours, and other physical features.
Data Collection & Equipment Operation: Assist in the operation and setup of surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, and levels to capture accurate data.
Site Surveys: Participate in site surveys at various project locations, including undeveloped land, construction sites, and existing properties.
Survey Documentation: Assist in preparing survey reports, sketches, and maps, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of collected data.
Equipment Maintenance: Help with the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of surveying instruments and tools.
Data Entry & Processing: Enter survey data into relevant software systems (AutoCAD, GIS, or client-specific tools) for processing and analysis.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure the smooth execution of surveying tasks.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and company protocols to maintain a safe working environment on-site and in the office.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education: A degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Relevant technical experience may also be considered.
Experience: No prior professional surveying experience required; however, any internships or fieldwork in surveying are advantageous.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of surveying instruments (Total Stations, GPS, levels) and surveying software (AutoCAD, GIS) is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Strong ability to record data accurately and verify measurements to ensure consistency.
Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills for documenting and explaining survey findings.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting senior staff and other professionals.
Physical Stamina: Willingness to work outdoors, including in varying weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and troubleshoot minor issues with equipment or data discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with surveying equipment or software through internships or previous work is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with safety protocols and fieldwork procedures is advantageous.
A desire to pursue further education or certification in surveying is encouraged.
Work Environment
Field-based work with occasional office duties for data processing, report preparation, and collaboration with senior team members. Regular travel to project sites in and around Abu Dhabi, which may include remote or challenging locations. Compliance with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment on-site.
