Job Description:

The First Group is looking for a Junior Graphic Designer who will primarily focus on various graphic design tasks and should be proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The ideal candidate should have a portfolio showcasing their design skills, excellent software proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for visual communication are essential for success in this position.

Graphic Design: The majority of the tasks pertaining to the Junior Graphic Designer surround the creation of visual content. These include, but are not limited to:

  1. Develop visually appealing posters, artwork, PPT, mockups, and marketing collateral to support group marketing initiatives.
  2. Collaborate with the marketing team to understand project requirements and objectives.
  3. Create designs that effectively communicate key messages and engage the target audience.
  4. Utilize software such as Illustrator and InDesign to design and layout materials.
  5. Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency across different mediums.
  6. Pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in typography, color, and layout.
  7. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  8. Work closely with the team to brainstorm and contribute creative ideas.
  9. Stay updated on design trends and industry best practices to continuously improve design quality.

Design Briefs and Ideation:

  1. Create comprehensive and clear briefing documents to effectively communicate project requirements to graphic designer freelancers and colleagues. Ensure that all necessary details, specifications, and expectations are included.
  2. Asset Management: Organize and maintain a centralized repository for all design assets, including logos, images, fonts, and templates. Ensure that assets are easily accessible to team members for efficient workflow.
  3. Idea Generation: Lead the ideation process for new artwork and creatives, working collaboratively with the team to generate innovative and impactful design concepts that align with project objectives and brand guidelines.
  4. Design Direction: Provide clear design direction to graphic designer freelancers and colleagues, outlining the desired visual style, mood, and tone. Offer constructive feedback and guidance to ensure consistent and high-quality designs.
  5. Review and Selection: Review design submissions from freelancers and colleagues, carefully evaluating each concept against project requirements. Select the best ideas and designs, considering factors such as creativity, visual impact, and brand representation.
  6. Iteration and Feedback: Collaborate closely with designers to provide timely and constructive feedback, facilitating the iterative design process. Guide them in refining and enhancing their work to meet project goals and achieve optimal results.
  7. Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control checks on all design deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines. Verify that final designs meet all project specifications before approval and distribution.

Desired Skill & Expertise:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (Graphic design, Visual Arts, Multimedia).
  2. Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign.
  3. Additional Adobe Creative Cloud software is a plus.
  4. Proficiency in Design Software: Strong command over design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), CorelDRAW, Sketch, or other industry-standard graphic design tools.
  5. Typography Skills: Expertise in selecting and pairing appropriate fonts, understanding typography principles, and creating visually appealing and legible text layouts.
  6. Layout and Composition: Skill in creating effective and aesthetically pleasing layouts, balancing elements, and organizing content in a visually engaging manner.
  7. Vector Graphics: Proficiency in creating and editing vector-based graphics using software like Adobe Illustrator, allowing for scalability and flexibility in design elements.
  8. Print Production Knowledge: Understanding of print processes, including file preparation, color modes (CMYK), resolution, and knowledge of different print formats and finishes.
