The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role involves supporting the finance team in handling routine financial tasks and providing timely financial information to aid decision-making.
Job Description: Junior Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
Recording Financial Transactions: Maintain and update general ledger accounts by recording day-to-day financial transactions. Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices and ensure timely payments to vendors. Record customer payments and manage accounts receivable collections. Reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with ledger balances to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Assist in Month-End and Year-End Closings: Support the preparation of month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting. Assist in preparing schedules and reports for year-end audits.
Expense Management: Monitor and record petty cash expenses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. Assist in preparing expense reports and maintaining records.
Tax Compliance Support: Assist in preparing and filing VAT returns and other tax-related documentation. Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
Financial Reporting: Generate and maintain financial reports, such as trial balances and aging reports. Provide data to senior accountants and management as needed.
Administrative Support: Organize and maintain accounting documents and records. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial data.
Collaboration and Learning: Work closely with senior accountants and other team members to ensure accurate financial reporting. Continuously learn and adapt to changes in accounting standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance (fresh graduates with relevant internships are welcome). Experience in the food industry is a must. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft applications.
