The IT Support Assistant provides frontline technical assistance to users within an organization, helping resolve hardware, software, and network issues. This role is essential for maintaining smooth daily operations by addressing user inquiries, troubleshooting problems, and escalating more complex issues to senior IT staff. The IT Support Assistant also helps with setting up devices, performing routine system maintenance, and ensuring user satisfaction through prompt and effective support.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries related to computer systems, software, and hardware
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and peripherals
Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues
Assist with user account setup, password resets, and access permissions
Escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate IT team members
Maintain accurate records of issues and solutions in the support ticketing system
Support IT asset inventory management
Assist in maintaining printers, copiers, and other office technology
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
Previous experience in a similar support role is preferred
Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networks
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
