Position Overview:

As an Investment Associate Intern at Ecomma, you will gain hands-on experience in private equity investing, with a specific focus on the ecommerce sector. You will work closely with senior investment professionals to evaluate potential investment opportunities, conduct market research, and assist with due diligence processes. This internship will provide you with valuable exposure to all aspects of private equity investing, from sourcing deals to portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Research & Industry Analysis: Conduct thorough research on ecommerce trends, market dynamics, and emerging business models to support investment decision-making.
2. Investment Sourcing & Deal Flow: Assist in identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities within the ecommerce space. Help manage deal flow and track potential investments.
3. Financial Analysis & Modeling: Prepare and assist in the development of financial models, including valuations, return analysis, and sensitivity analysis for potential investments.
4. Due Diligence Support: Work with the investment team to perform due diligence on prospective investments, including financial, operational, and legal assessments.
5. Portfolio Management Assistance: Help track portfolio performance, assist with investor reporting, and provide operational support as needed for portfolio companies.
6. Presentation & Reporting: Support the creation of internal and external presentations, including investment memos, deal reports, and board updates.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams (e.g., legal, operations, and finance) to ensure smooth execution of transactions and investments.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Prior experience or coursework in private equity, venture capital, or ecommerce is a plus.
2. Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with a deep understanding of financial statements, valuation techniques, and market research.
3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis. Familiarity with financial modeling tools and data platforms such as Bloomberg, PitchBook, or similar is a plus.
4. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
5. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
6. Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
7. Interest in Ecommerce: A keen interest in ecommerce trends, business models, and understanding of the digital landscape is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous internship experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or ecommerce-related roles.
2. Knowledge of the ecommerce ecosystem, including direct-to-consumer brands, marketplaces, and tech-driven solutions.
