Job description

We are partnering with a UAE Federal Government Entity in the UAE to help fill the following vacancy: International Law Expert.

This is a full-time position that will be directly employed by our client, not Whiteshield. Our role is solely to assist in the recruitment process—further details will be provided upon the successful shortlisting of applicants.

The role supports bilateral and multilateral international relations efforts by ensuring legal compliance and alignment with global standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Advisory: Provide expert inputs on international legal frameworks to guide conferences, meetings, and the drafting of agreements.
  2. Conference Support: Manage and contribute to the development of materials and reports for international conferences.
  3. Reporting and Compliance: Prepare detailed reports for the Director and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with international treaties and multilateral agreements.
  4. Documentation: Draft, review, and finalize official documents, agreements, and other legal materials, ensuring clarity, precision, and adherence to legal standards.
  5. Policy Development: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and update policies related to international legal matters.
  6. Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions or workshops for internal teams and external partners to enhance understanding of international legal frameworks and practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education: Degree in International Law or a related field.
  2. Experience: At least 10 years of experience in the international law sector, preferably with experience in international organizations, ministries of foreign affairs, or embassies.
  3. Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the international legal context, particularly in multilateral agreements and international treaties.
  4. Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Arabic proficiency is a major plus.
  5. Writing Skills: Proven experience in drafting official documents, agreements, and other formal legal materials.
  6. Professional Background: Strong understanding and experience working in international relations and governance structures.
  7. Research Skills: Ability to conduct in-depth legal research to support strategic decision-making and organizational initiatives.
  8. Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used for legal document management and Office package.

Preferred Competencies:

  1. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legal frameworks.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multicultural and interdisciplinary environments.
  3. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  4. Capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  5. Proficiency in additional languages (optional, based on organizational needs).
