INTERNAL AUDITOR - PAYMENTS

A leading supplier of business software is looking for an Internal Auditor – Payments, for its Energy Sector Client based in Abu Dhabi. The candidate must possess relevant professional qualifications and similar & proven experience, preferably in Abu Dhabi.
A critical requirement for the successful applicant would be having existing relationships with the regulators at all levels in Abu Dhabi.
Scope of work - Internal Audit
- Conduct a meeting with the Firm’s Management to understand the audit committee's proposed activities and how the company is currently working.
- Obtain an understanding of the Governance framework within the organization.
- Obtain an understanding of the IA structure and interrelationships between the various departments, including Finance, Risk Management (if present), and other Functional Units.
- Review and report proposed policies and procedures based on industry best practices and regulatory requirements for AC Charter, IA Charter, IA Manual, etc.
- Align the overall governance framework with IIA’s latest standards and leading practices, both local and Global.
- Understand the Internal and External Environment of the Firm.
- Obtain a high-level understanding of the business environment, objectives, and strategic goals.
- Conduct detailed meetings with the process owners.
- Identify the risks that may impact the entity's objectives.
- Identify key controls in place by performing process/system walkthroughs.
- Develop a high-level risk register for each identified process, function, or department as per the Audit Universe defined during the start of this phase.
- Assess the risks’ impact and likelihood.
- Prepare the consolidated risk register, based on inherent risks.
- Use the understanding of the processes and the results of the Risk Assessment to develop the risk-based Internal Audit Plan.
- Link the risk-based IA Plan with the Company’s strategic objectives (where applicable).
- Identify the key risks and controls within the processes.
- Develop detailed audit work programs in line with the leading practices and IIA standards.
- Enhancement of the Audit programs by inclusion of Forensic risks wherever applicable.
- Ensuring that the audit programs are comprehensive and cover the full audit cycle from planning to reporting.
- Performance of testing of internal controls and report findings. The testing procedures would be included in detail in the audit programs.
- Performance of substantive testing and report findings.
- Identification of the improvement opportunities within processes and include them in the audit report. Incorporate management comments.
- Issue the final audit programs.
- Until final approval, the outsourced IA team will ensure regulatory alignment and prepare relevant departments for operational readiness, the arrangement will be a hybrid model (onsite/Offshore) until final approval, with the nominated UAE-based IA team available for face-to-face meetings as needed.
- Post-final approval, the outsourcing arrangement will be reviewed and adjusted to meet anticipated volume and business needs.
Scope of Work – Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify and update all applicable laws and regulations.
- Map requirements for business units.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts.
- Rank requirements based on risk.
- Until final approval, the outsourced officer will ensure regulatory alignment and prepare relevant departments for operational readiness.
- Develop the compliance test plan—define a schedule, typically annual, executed in increments.
- Communicate with first and second-line partners and obtain senior management approval.
- Define requirements, controls, and business units to test.
- Use regulatory checklists and transaction testing.
- Define the testing approach, sampling methodology, and issue management process.
- Create an effective communication Plan for the Test cycle.
- Provide written advance notice to the auditee.
- Detail ongoing communication, updates, and exit meetings.
- Report results to management and the governing committee.
Execute the Compliance Test
- Conduct tests per methodology and plan.
- Document results and retain artefacts.
- Review results with the auditee and report to management and committee.
Knowledge Transfer
- Record Keeping of documents like Regulatory Repository, Compliance Risk Register, Compliance Monitoring & Testing Plan, Testing Methodology.
- Training Sessions for key stakeholders as part of knowledge transfer.
- The arrangement will be a hybrid model (onsite/offshore) until final approval, with the compliance officer available for face-to-face meetings as needed.
- Post-final approval, the outsourcing arrangement will be reviewed and adjusted to meet anticipated volume and business needs.
