Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently hiring an Instrument & Controls Engineer with experience in onshore FEED Gas processing facilities in the Oil & Gas industry to be based in the Abu Dhabi office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The Instrumentation and Control Engineer is primarily engaged in the design, modeling, and analysis of I & C engineering requirements on a project, tender, or proposal, as per client standards, international codes, and project scope of work.
2. Planning and executing Instrumentation engineering design for field instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Integrated Control System (ICS), Fire and Gas, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Telecommunications systems. This entails the preparation of basic design, FEED, and detailed design of the instrumentation and controls part of the project.
3. Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with the quality management system.
4. Co-ordination with Project and client.
5. Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and pre-qualification documents related to Instrumentation engineering design.
6. Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Project Managers and Discipline Heads.
7. Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology, and updating oneself on the latest international standards in terms of engineering design practices and their applications.
8. Identifying new methodology of work processes required for higher productivity.
9. Preparation of Construction work packs.
10. TBE, VDR, and follow-up engineering activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry.
2. Onshore FEED experience on Gas process facilities is a must.
3. Degree qualification in Instrument or Electronics Engineering.
4. Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred.
5. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Instrument and Controls FEED, engineering design, and analysis.
6. Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
7. Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for Instrument and Controls engineering design.
8. Experience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Rating to Instrument and Controls design.
9. Experience with Instrument and Controls design for prefabricated modular packaged equipment.
10. Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred.
11. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
