Respond to instrument & control equipment breakdowns and carry out planned/preventive/predictive maintenance tasks with minimal supervision, ensuring minimal production downtime.
Assess job requirements, select necessary tools and equipment, and complete tasks efficiently.
Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument & control system breakdowns/failures of plant equipment with minimal direction.
Perform maintenance work in accordance with safety procedures, maintenance plans, and plant operational requirements.
Complete all equipment calibrations as per the schedule/business requirements.
Use the computerized maintenance system (SAP) to order necessary spare parts and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Monitor recurring breakdowns, recommend, and implement modifications to resolve issues.
Provide guidance to newly joined instrument mechanics to familiarize them with the plant and equip them with the knowledge necessary to carry out maintenance work.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Suggestion Schemes, 5S, Hazard Reporting, TAMAHAL, RCFA, Kaizen, etc., to enhance EHS and Plant & Equipment Performance.
Identify and report any abnormalities, initiate repair/replacement of worn-out or failed components/parts, and maintain a clean work area.
Assist other departments in equipment repair and troubleshooting.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Technician.
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma in the relevant field.
Completion of PEC Craft Training.
Minimum Experience:
3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a smelter environment or heavy industrial setup after Diploma.
No experience required after completion of PEC Training.
Skills:
Proficient in written and spoken English.
Familiarity with maintenance tools and basic computer knowledge.
Experience in installation, troubleshooting, and instrument calibration.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions.
Knowledgeable in the maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC Control systems.
