Instrument Fitter
Job description
Job Responsibilities:
- Install and fit various types of process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measuring devices.
- Mount, align, and connect instruments to pipelines, vessels, and other industrial equipment ensuring proper fit and function.
- Prepare and cut instrument tubing and fittings (copper, stainless steel) for connection between instruments and process lines.
- Lay out and install smallbore tubing (SBT) for instruments and control valves in accordance with isometric drawings and P&ID diagrams.
- Bend, cut, and thread pipes and tubing as per specifications.
- Install instrument manifolds, impulse lines, and fittings for process control devices.
- Assist in routine inspection and preventive maintenance of instrumentation systems.
- Remove, replace, or repair faulty instruments, tubing, and fittings ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Support the troubleshooting of leaks, blockages, or other issues in tubing and instrument connections.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams for installation or modification of instruments and systems.
- Follow engineering specifications to ensure correct alignment, positioning, and orientation of instruments.
- Work closely with Instrument Technicians during calibration, testing, and commissioning of instruments.
- Provide hands-on assistance for loop checking and functional testing of instrumentation and control systems.
- Ensure that all instrumentation fitting and installation work complies with ADNOC safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to HSE requirements while working in hazardous environments.
- Use and maintain tools such as tube benders, pipe cutters, threaders, pressure gauges, and other specialized fitting tools.
- Maintain proper inventory of tools and equipment required for instrumentation fitting work.
Qualifications:
- ITI / High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation fitting in the oil and gas industry, preferably in onshore or offshore environments.
Additional Information:
- Working in onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities often in hazardous conditions.
- May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme temperatures.
- Understanding of instrument installation and process control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, isometric drawings, and engineering blueprints.
- Familiarity with materials like stainless steel and copper tubing.
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in instrument fitting work.
