Job description
Roles and responsibilities
  • Create the strategic direction of PDI and Customer-oriented process to maximize customer satisfaction, while optimizing cost effectiveness and inventory levels. Drive efficiency and quality through implementation of systems, process and procedures.
  • Design and implement new or improved systems and processes to drive improvement in levels of customer satisfaction.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and sustain customer relationships through direct interaction, responsiveness and accountability. Proactively establish and foster customer relationships through personal communication and involvement and help to identify opportunities for additional business growth, cost optimization and efficient processes.
  • Work with key business owners to ensure projects are run effectively and within timelines and budget. Identify areas of process improvement, develop, implement and measure the outcomes of new processes. Create and execute end-to-end project plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs.

Financials:

  • Ensure that the PDI department meets all of its financial performance objectives through the development and implementation of a sound budget and managing costs effectively. Control spending and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.

Process and Procedures:

  • Ensure that operational processes and procedures are adjusted according to performance reports to drive a consistent process strategy throughout operations focusing on continual improvement.
  • Define appropriate metrics and ensure the proper monitoring controls are in place to regularly measure the Facility’s performance measurement plans.
  • Ensure 5S and Kaizen initiatives are implemented and sustained.

People:

  • Developing Best in Town Talent through Coaching, Individual Development Plans, and effective Succession Planning.

Required Skills To Be Successful:

  • Strong experience and knowledge of Automotive Pre Delivery Inspection functions.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering high-impact supply chain solutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired candidate profile

Technical Expertise:

  • Knowledge of Inspection Standards: A deep understanding of the inspection standards and quality assurance processes relevant to the industry (e.g., ISO, ASTM, or regulatory standards).
  • Product or Process Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of the product, machinery, or processes being inspected to effectively supervise and guide inspections.
  • Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with tools and technologies used in inspections, such as gauges, calipers, microscopes, or software used to track inspection results.

Leadership and Management:

  • Team Leadership: Supervising and motivating a team of inspectors, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Training and Development: Providing guidance and training to junior inspectors, ensuring they understand inspection procedures, tools, and standards.
  • Conflict Resolution: Handling disagreements or disputes among team members and ensuring smooth cooperation within the inspection team.

Quality Control Knowledge:

  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that inspection processes align with the company’s quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying quality issues or defects and finding solutions to correct them, ensuring that the product or process complies with the necessary standards.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughly reviewing inspection results and identifying any minor discrepancies or defects that could lead to significant issues.

Analytical Skills:

  • Data Analysis: Analyzing inspection data to identify trends, potential issues, or areas for improvement in processes or products.
  • Reporting: Compiling inspection results and quality reports for management, providing insights into potential improvements and areas of concern.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conducting investigations to identify the root causes of quality issues and developing strategies to address them.

Communication Skills:

  • Reporting: Communicating inspection results clearly and concisely to management and other stakeholders, often in the form of reports or presentations.
  • Collaborative Skills: Working with other departments (e.g., production, engineering, and procurement) to resolve quality issues and improve inspection processes.
  • Client Communication: In some industries, the Inspection Supervisor may need to interact with clients to explain the results of inspections or address any concerns.
