About the role

This role is responsible for ensuring that an organization's computer systems, networks, and technical equipment function smoothly. The role involves troubleshooting, maintaining hardware and software, providing technical support, and ensuring the overall health of the IT infrastructure.

Duties and responsibilities

Technical Support:

• Provide day-to-day technical support to end-users, both remotely and in person.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Respond to and manage help desk tickets for issues related to computers, printers, software, and other IT equipment.

System Maintenance:

• Install, configure, and update software and hardware systems.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure IT systems are running efficiently, including system updates and security patches.
• Monitor system performance and make improvements as needed.

Network and Infrastructure Support:

• Assist with the setup and maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
• Ensure proper connectivity and troubleshoot networking issues.
• Support the configuration and management of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

Data Backup and Recovery:

• Implement and manage backup systems to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery.
• Assist in the recovery of lost data or system failures when necessary.

Security:

• Assist in maintaining cybersecurity by implementing security measures such as antivirus software, firewalls, and encryption.
• Monitor security alerts and address potential threats.

User Training:

• Provide training and guidance to end-users on how to use new or existing systems, software, and hardware.
• Create and maintain user documentation or guides for IT systems.

Inventory Management:

• Track and maintain an inventory of IT hardware, software, and licenses.
• Manage the procurement of new equipment and software when necessary.
• Work with other IT professionals, such as network administrators or system administrators, to address complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with management to ensure IT needs are aligned with business goals.

What are we looking for?

• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
• Experience with operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).
• Familiarity with help desk management tools and ticketing systems.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
