Job Description: Assistant Cook for Offshore Catering
Location: Offshore (specific location to be determined)
Job Type: 6 Months (5 Months on & 1 Month off (Paid))
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Cook to join our offshore catering team. The Assistant Cook will work under the supervision of the Head Cook and assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for crew members aboard our offshore facilities. This role requires a strong commitment to food safety, excellent teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients and meals according to established recipes and standards.
- Cook and present a variety of dishes, ensuring high quality and taste.
- Assist in meal planning and preparation for special dietary requirements when necessary.
- Kitchen Operations:
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and storage spaces.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- Help with the storage and proper rotation of food products to minimize waste.
- Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
- Maintain proper sanitation practices in food handling and kitchen preparation areas.
- Assist in the training of kitchen staff on food handling and safety procedures.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the Head Cook and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure timely meal service.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
- Other Duties:
- Assist with cleaning tasks, including dishes, kitchen equipment, and floors.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Cook or catering management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or offshore catering environment preferred.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to work long hours and adjust to varying shifts.
- Certification in food safety and handling is a plus (e.g., ServSafe).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- Capability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to work in confined spaces and at sea.
