Job description

Roles and Responsibilities

Core Engineering Role to produce the volume of engineering activities on projects and within the business as required.


Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant discipline from recognized university
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline will be an added advantage

Essential Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

  • 3 - 6 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.

  • Previous experience in Region

Technical Knowledge and Skills (Discipline Specific):

  • Knowledge of basic engineering processes
  • Familiarity with international codes, standards, and engineering practices
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of design from concept to detailed design
  • Technical analysis of engineering problems
  • Knowledge of Loss prevention engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, and industry fire and safety codes, standards, and specifications, such as NFPA, OSHA, EPA, API, and COMAH.
  • Knowledge and use of specific software such as PIPENET Sprinkler/Spray module, PHA-PRO-7, Shell FRED, PHAST, CIRRUS for Gas Dispersion or similar software. Knowledge in PHAST Risk for QRA studies and Fault Tree are desirable.
  • Loss prevention / Fire protection engineering experience in areas such as:
    • Process Safety Management
    • Safety in plant designs
    • Hazard identification
    • Qualitative and quantitative risk analysis
    • Consequence modeling
    • Experience in HAZOP, SIL, and HAZID

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Risk Assessment and Analysis

    • Assist in identifying and evaluating safety hazards in technical systems and processes.
    • Support the creation of risk assessments and hazard identification studies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP).
    • Analyze potential failure modes and their impact using tools like FMEA or Bow-Tie Analysis.
  2. Regulatory Compliance

    • Learn and apply relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
    • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety guidelines.
    • Assist in audits and inspections to identify non-compliance or areas for improvement.
  3. Safety System Design

    • Work with senior engineers to design safety systems for technical projects.
    • Assist in developing safety specifications and integrating them into engineering designs.
    • Support implementation and testing of safety equipment and protocols.
  4. Incident Investigation

    • Support investigations into safety incidents or near-misses.
    • Assist in root cause analysis and prepare reports detailing findings.
    • Contribute to recommendations and action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  5. Documentation and Reporting

    • Prepare safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety plans, and procedure manuals.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, findings, and recommendations.
    • Support the development of safety training materials and presentations.
  6. Collaboration

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and management, to integrate safety into all stages of the project lifecycle.
    • Participate in safety meetings, briefings, and workshops.
  7. Continuous Learning

    • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in technical safety.
    • Pursue relevant certifications and training to enhance safety engineering knowledge.
