HSE Engineer Officer

A new opportunity has arisen with a well-known engineering/construction company. Our client is seeking a highly experienced HSE Engineer / Officer for the Abu Dhabi location.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced HSE Engineer focusing on operations and maintenance within the wastewater sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health safety and environmental management particularly in pump station operations, construction rehabilitation works, and wastewater systems.
This role requires proactive leadership to ensure compliance with safety standards and enhance operational efficiency while maintaining environmental integrity.
The HSE Engineer / Officer position will be responsible for the following:

1. HSE Management:

   • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local and international standards.
     
   • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections at pump stations and construction/rehabilitation sites.
     
   • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
     

2. Operations and Maintenance Support:

   • Provide HSE oversight for daily operations and maintenance activities at wastewater facilities and pump stations.
     
   • Collaborate with operations teams to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with maintenance tasks.
     

3. Construction and Rehabilitation Works:

   • Ensure safety protocols are adhered to during construction and rehabilitation projects.
     
   • Conduct pre-construction HSE planning and oversee onsite compliance during project execution.
     

4. Training and Awareness:

   • Design and deliver HSE training programs for staff and contractors.
     
   • Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across all levels of the organization.
     

5. Regulatory Compliance:

   • Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
     
   • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities as required.
     

6. Environmental Protection:

   • Monitor wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
     
   • Develop initiatives to minimize environmental impact during operations and construction activities.
     

Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science / Diploma in Engineering. 10 years experience for Bachelor's Degree and minimum 12 years experience for Diploma.
NEBOSH IGC Level 3 certification is mandatory.
Should have experience in Operations & Maintenance, preferably in Pump Stations.
Proven experience in Construction and Rehabilitation Works.
Additional Waste Water treatment or environmental management certifications are advantageous.
Familiar with Abu Dhabi HSE Legislations and Practices.
UAE Driving License.
