Job Summary:
The HSE Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures for cladding operations in the oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HSE management, particularly in high-risk industrial environments, and a deep understanding of cladding processes and associated hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to cladding operations in the oil and gas industry.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety analyses (JSAs) for cladding activities, including thermal spray, welding, and surface preparation.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Monitor and audit cladding operations to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to HSE protocols.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and prepare detailed reports with actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors, focusing on cladding-specific risks and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, including permits, inspections, and incident records.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across all levels of the organization.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies related to HSE and cladding processes.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HSE roles within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on cladding or surface protection.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of cladding processes, including thermal spray, welding, and abrasive blasting, and associated HSE risks.
- Familiarity with HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits.
- Proficiency in HSE software and tools for reporting and data analysis.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on offshore or onshore oil and gas projects.
- Knowledge of corrosion protection and material science related to cladding.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
