Job Description
Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards associated with telecommunications installations, equipment, and operations. Assess risks related to construction sites, tower climbing, electrical work, driving, and other relevant activities.
Safety Protocols & Compliance: Ensure that safety measures for all telecommunications activities (including cable installations, tower work, etc.) are always adhered to. Organize safety training and awareness programs for all employees and contractors to ensure they understand and follow safety protocols. Provide specific training on the safe use of equipment, handling of hazardous materials, and emergency response actions. Investigate and document all accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents that occur on-site. Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Liaise with insurance providers, legal teams, and regulatory bodies for incident documentation and compliance.
Safety Equipment & Maintenance: Ensure that safety equipment (PPE, fall protection gear, fire extinguishers, etc.) is available, in good condition, and regularly maintained. Oversee the proper usage of safety equipment by employees and contractors.
Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g., electrical hazards, fires, equipment malfunctions). Coordinate emergency drills to ensure readiness for emergencies such as tower collapses, electrical hazards, or natural disasters.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training sessions. Regularly report safety performance, trends, and compliance status to management. Act as a liaison between field teams, contractors, and management to address safety concerns and suggest improvements. Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all employees and contractors.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Certification in safety-NEBOSH – IGC is a must.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably within the telecommunications, construction, or related industry.
