Job description

Maintain complete knowledge of:

  1. Dining room layout, table/seat/section numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range, and dress code.
  2. Restaurant reservation procedures.
  3. Daily house count, arrivals, departures, VIPs.
  4. Scheduled in-house group activities, locations, and times.
  5. All department policies and service procedures.
  6. Answer telephone within 3 rings using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.
  7. Take, record, and confirm restaurant reservations and cancellations in accordance with departmental standards.
  8. Communicate reservation or cancellation changes to management as they arise throughout the shift.
  9. Monitor the preparation of own assignments, ensuring compliance with departmental standards.
  10. Ensure that all menus and check folders are cleaned and in sufficient quantity.
  11. Ensure that the hostess stand is cleaned and organized.
  12. Review the reservation book, preassign designated tables, and follow up on all special requests.
  13. Greet the guests at the entrance of the restaurant.
  14. Seat guests according to the floor plan, being fair to each waiter.
  15. Show guests their designated table.
  16. Ensure that the guests are pleased with their table.
  17. Present the open menu to the guest.
  18. Ensure that the tables are set to provide the best service to the guest.
  19. Anticipate heavy business times and organize procedures to handle waiting lines.
  20. Anticipate guests' needs, respond to them promptly, and acknowledge guests, however busy and whatever time of the day.
  21. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  22. Be familiar with hotel services and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  23. Handle guest complaints following instant pacification procedures, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  24. Monitor guests' reactions and confer frequently with management to ensure guest satisfaction.
  25. Monitor and participate to ensure that all tables are cleared and reset according to departmental procedures.
  26. Monitor and maintain cleanliness and working conditions of own section, equipment, and supplies.
