Teach students how to fly helicopters and evaluate their knowledge and skills.
Comply with the daily program, including take-off time and sortie duration.
Adhere to Horizon standards for sortie content, teaching exercises, and grading.
Complete daily sortie reports accurately, signed by both the Instructor and the student.
Record student flying time in personal files and logbooks.
Raise necessary occurrence, incident, and accident reports.
Assist students with logbook entries endorsed by signature.
Suggest improvements or corrective actions to the training syllabus or program.
Report non-compliance to the CFI or Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager.
Correct misconduct of any student.
Complete extra duties as tasked by the CFI.
Ensure students meet medical requirements for flight.
Act as course mentor when designated by the CFI.
Comply with GCAA and all relevant laws and regulations.
Follow Horizon Operations, Training, and Safety Management Manuals.
Adhere to Horizon Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Provide training according to the Horizon Aviation Training Manual.
Fill out all necessary forms, including logs, appropriately.
Maintain all Horizon resources, including Aircraft, Simulators, and Facilities, in tidy and serviceable condition.
Encourage and promote essential aviation values such as airmanship, teamwork, and CRM.
Ensure all necessary flight plans and general declarations are submitted prior to the flight.
Experience & Education
Fluent in English speaking and writing (ELP level 4 minimum).
Valid class 1 medical with no restrictions – Single Pilot.
At least 2000 flying hours, with a minimum of 500 hours instructional, and experience conducting ab initio training for at least two courses.
Holds a valid license (CPL IR/H or ATPL/H).
Current Flight Instructor (FI) in an ATO (civilian); ex-military background is ideal but not essential; Bell 505 & 429 type rated is a plus.
Must have been a current pilot within the last year.
Maximum age of 55 years old.
