Heavy Driver

• Drives and delivers required stock to clients/showrooms to and from specified destinations within the UAE to ensure delivery punctuality and safety, as per the instruction of Warehouse Manager/Supervisor, following all safety regulations and precautions.
• Inspects and maintains vehicle cleanliness, supplies, and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, and reports any maintenance problems to the line manager to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Ensures the delivery documents are signed by customers and collects approved customer returns and reports to the line manager.
• Drives a vehicle as per Govt Rules & Regulations to avoid fines and penalties.
• Adheres to the Group Vehicle Policy to utilize the asset in the most effective ways.
• Performs timely vehicle maintenance and regular service to avoid breakdowns.
• Performs other relative duties assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

• High School: 12 years of schooling
• Minimum 3-5 years of total work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
• Valid appropriate vehicle category driving license
• Acceptable driving record
• Ability to work in all types of weather
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• Bilingual, spoken and written good proficiency (English preferred)
• Good communication skills

• Ability to work long hours as needed
• Drives truck in a safe manner

• Vehicle Operation:

  • Driving Heavy Vehicles: Operating trucks, lorries, buses, or construction vehicles in compliance with road safety laws and regulations.
  • Route Planning: Planning routes and adjusting travel plans based on road conditions, traffic, delivery schedules, and weather.
  • Transporting Goods/Passengers: Ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods or transportation of passengers to their destinations.
  • Load Handling: Ensuring that the cargo is loaded and unloaded safely, including securing the load to prevent shifting during transit.

• Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Checks:

  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Conducting thorough inspections of the vehicle before starting a journey, checking the condition of tires, brakes, lights, engine, fuel levels, and other essential components.
  • Routine Maintenance: Performing basic vehicle maintenance, such as oil changes, checking tire pressure, and ensuring proper functioning of brakes and lights.
  • Reporting Mechanical Issues: Reporting any vehicle malfunctions or damage to supervisors or maintenance staff for further repairs.
  • Cleaning: Keeping the vehicle clean and maintaining its interior and exterior, ensuring it is presentable and functional.

• Compliance with Regulations:

  • Adherence to Legal Requirements: Complying with all traffic laws, weight limits, driving hours, and safety standards.
  • Document Handling: Completing and maintaining accurate records, including delivery forms, manifests, inspection reports, fuel logs, and other transportation documents.
  • Tachograph Usage: Using a tachograph to ensure compliance with regulations on working hours and rest periods.

• Safety and Defensive Driving:

  • Safe Driving Practices: Practicing defensive driving techniques to avoid accidents and handle difficult driving conditions.
  • Load Security: Ensuring the cargo is securely loaded, using appropriate equipment to prevent movement.
  • Emergency Situations: Being prepared to handle emergency situations, such as vehicle breakdowns or accidents.

• Customer Service:

  • Delivery and Pickup: Interacting with clients, customers, or supervisors to pick up and deliver goods on time.
  • Professionalism: Maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with clients and representing the company positively.
  • Handling Delivery Issues: Resolving any issues or discrepancies with deliveries and communicating them to the relevant personnel.
