Job description

Scope of the Work:

To coordinate the delivery of the health, safety, and environmental requirements for LEGOLAND Dubai. The Health & Safety Coordinator will maintain a high standard of health and safety within the Resort by complying fully with the safety management system which is integrated into all working practices across the organization. They will take pro-active steps to maintain LEGOLAND Dubai as a safe place to work.

Main Responsibility:

Operations

  1. Driving and ensuring completion of departmental risk assessments annually across the resort.
  2. Driving and ensuring actions from risk assessments are followed up in a timely manner.
  3. Assist with HACCP requirements for Resort.
  4. To assist with department specific audits – i.e. audits that focus specifically on training and how it has been translated practically in the resort, and the paper trail.
  5. To assist with spot check processes amongst the management team and ensuring follow up of issues in the team.
  6. To assist with the analysis of spot check trends, and proactively work with teams to look for solutions.
  7. Spot checks – look to see if this process would be beneficial across other teams and drive implementation.
  8. Near miss reporting – drive this from all teams, ensuring it is logged onto MIDAS, ensure all actions are seen through to completion.
  9. Incident reporting – To assist with the investigation and follow up from all teams, ensuring it is logged onto MIDAS, ensure all actions are seen through to completion.
  10. Rides and attractions – To assist with monthly ride incident report including incident rates on specific rides (identifying anomalies, significant increases/decreases, working out why this may be, and working with teams to lower high incident rates where applicable) – expand to other departments.
  11. Proactively assist all departments with regards to their safe working practices and training, encourage solutions focus in tackling issues and helping teams to see their vision & future perfect with relation to H&S. Identify training needs and work with departments to ensure the holes are filled.
  12. Work with Learning and development to ensure that training is engaging, and ensure a testing process is in place to test knowledge.
  13. Guest feedback – work with department managers to provide solid responses to all safety related guest feedback within an appropriate time frame as specified by customer services.
  14. Work with departments to ensure departmental H&S plans are created – ensuring that reviews of H&S (e.g. training/risk assessments) are carried out on a regular basis.
  15. Encourage cross group forums within teams to develop consistent Safe Working Practices across group in relevant teams.
  16. Act as Safety Week Champion for Merlin Safety week.

Marketing

The Health & Safety Coordinator will be required to support the Special Events Team and will participate in events activity when required.

Financial

Assist with implementation of cost effective safety management/accident prevention strategies to control direct and indirect costs arising from work related accidents and ill health involving guests, employees and contractors.

Development

To attend Company training programmes to develop capabilities such as People Management skills and Health and Safety functional competencies. Use the Personal Development Plan program in conjunction with your line Manager to identify areas of growth potential.

People

Liaise with appropriate bodies and provide advice to ensure the requisite safety standards are followed in respect of new projects/attractions both in terms of design/operation and project management.

Assist with implementation of Group Food Policy as required.

To promote the importance and value that a positive safety culture makes to the business and the role that management and staff need to play to ensure its success.

Health & Safety

Support the Health and Safety Director in maintaining high health and safety standards and strive for continuous improvement. Stand in for other Safety Team Members as needed, covering meetings, training, etc. Ensure personal and colleague safety in line with Group Policy (HS001) and legal requirements, reporting any incidents and cooperating with investigations.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

  • Requires excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to execute multiple tasks.
  • Competent in all aspects of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, e-mail, Power Point) are required.
  • Able to focus and prioritize.
  • Fluent English in both oral and written.
  • Excellent understanding on culture awareness and the unique environment of the UAE.
  • Plan & organize safety committee meetings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to motivate teams.
