Opportunity Responsibilities

The Main Responsibilities of the role include:

Strategic and Operational Responsibilities:

Programme Design and Development:

  1. Strategic Visioning: Develop a long-term strategic vision for the APCS programme that aligns with global urban development trends and the strategic goals of participating cities.
  2. Trend Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in urban development within the Asia Pacific region and the MEASA to inform programme content and focus areas.
  3. Partnerships and Alliances: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with international organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions to enhance the programme's relevance and impact.
  4. Innovation and Best Practices: Incorporate innovative approaches and best practices in urban planning and development into the programme to provide cutting-edge insights and solutions for city leaders.
  5. Develop a comprehensive programme for the APCS that aligns with the summit's objectives and themes.
  6. Identify and invite influential speakers, experts, and thought leaders to participate in the summit.
  7. Create session formats that encourage active engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among participants.
  8. Ensure the programme includes diverse perspectives and addresses key challenges and opportunities facing Asia Pacific cities and those of the MEASA region.

Investment Attraction and Economic Development:

  1. Investment Opportunities: Design programme sessions that highlight investment opportunities in participating cities, showcasing potential projects and initiatives to attract international investors.
  2. Economic Growth: Develop content that focuses on strategies for economic growth, sustainable development, and infrastructure improvement in urban areas.
  3. Public-Private Partnerships: Facilitate discussions on successful models of public-private partnerships and how they can be leveraged to drive urban development and investment.
  4. Funding Mechanisms: Include sessions on various funding mechanisms, such as green bonds, municipal bonds, and international development funds, to educate city leaders on financing options for their projects.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. High-Level Engagement: Engage with senior officials, ministers, and influential business leaders to secure their participation and investment in the summit.
  2. City Leader Collaboration: Foster collaboration among city leaders to create a unified approach to regional development and investment promotion.
  3. Government and Policy Liaison: Act as a liaison between the summit and government bodies to ensure alignment with national and regional development policies and priorities.

Event Coordination:

  1. Collaborate with the Integrated Delivery Office and Event Delivery Teams to ensure seamless execution of the programme.
  2. Oversee the development of programme materials, including agendas, speaker bios, and session descriptions.
  3. Ensure all logistical aspects of the programme, such as session timing, speaker arrangements, and technical requirements, are well-coordinated.

Programme Impact and Measurement:

  1. Impact Assessment: Establish metrics to assess the impact of the programme on participating cities, particularly in terms of investment attraction and economic development.
  2. Success Stories: Highlight success stories and case studies from previous summits to demonstrate the tangible benefits of participation and investment in the APCS.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Use feedback and data collected from participants to continuously improve the programme, ensuring it remains relevant and impactful in addressing urban development challenges.

Marketing and Outreach:

  1. Strategic Communications: Work with the marketing and communications teams to develop a strategic communications plan that emphasizes the investment and economic development opportunities presented at the summit.
  2. Thought Leadership: Position the APCS as a thought leader in urban development by publishing white papers, reports, and articles that showcase the outcomes and insights from the summit.
  3. Global Outreach: Conduct outreach activities to attract a global audience of city leaders, investors, and stakeholders, enhancing the international profile of the summit.

Skills

10+ years of experience in programme development, event management, or a related field as well as:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Proven experience working with high-level government officials, city leaders, and other stakeholders.
  3. Strong understanding of urban development issues and trends in the Asia Pacific and MEASA regions.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex programmes and events.
  6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  7. Diplomatic and discreet.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  9. Work experience with diplomatic and city leader delegations.
  10. Working knowledge or experience of exhibitions planning and delivery.
