Head of Procurement

The Head of Procurement is responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement activities of the group. This job involves developing procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. The Head of Procurement is critical in ensuring compliance with company policies, sustainability objectives, and industry regulations while driving innovation and value across the supply chain.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement the group's overall procurement strategy to support business objectives and ensure alignment with company goals.
• Analyse market trends and supply chain dynamics to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Establish long-term procurement plans that align with the group's growth and operational goals.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and vendors to meet business needs.
• Negotiate favourable terms, contracts, and agreements with suppliers, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation.
• Manage supplier performance through regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and performance expectations.
• Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery timelines.
• Ensure the timely and efficient procurement of goods and services to avoid disruptions in operations.
• Implement best practices, policies, and procedures to streamline procurement processes and improve efficiency.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with relevant departments to optimize stock management.
• Prepare and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making on major procurement investments.
• Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions, price volatility, and regulatory compliance issues.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations in all procurement activities.
• Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain risks and disruptions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the procurement function.
• Provide regular training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Promote sustainable procurement practices by selecting environmentally responsible suppliers and materials.
• Drive innovation within the supply chain to identify new technologies and approaches that add value to the group.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate sustainability goals into procurement strategies.
• Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
• Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
• Proven experience in procurement practices, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.
• MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
• A master's degree is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), or equivalent is highly desirable.
