Job description

The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for establishing and leading the internal audit function of the organisation, providing independent and objective assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. This role is critical in supporting the company's commitment to operational excellence, safety, regulatory compliance, and financial integrity at Etihad Airport Services.

Accountabilities

  1. Develop and execute a risk‐based internal audit plan aligned with the organization’s objectives and regulatory landscape.
  2. Advise the Audit Committee and senior management on risk exposures and control effectiveness.
  3. Contribute to strategic initiatives by identifying business improvement opportunities.
  4. Lead audits across finance, ground operations, safety, compliance, procurement, and IT.
  5. Ensure alignment with GCAA, IATA (ISAGO / IOSA), and other relevant international standards.
  6. Monitor and report on the status of audit findings and the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  7. Ensure ongoing compliance with local UAE regulations (e.g., MOHRE, GCAA) and internal policies.
  8. Support fraud investigations, whistleblower cases, and special reviews as needed.
  9. Maintain internal audit independence while collaborating constructively with business units.
  10. Build and lead a competent internal audit team.
  11. Promote a strong internal control culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  12. Deliver training and awareness sessions on internal controls and risk mitigation.

Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
  2. Required: CIA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  3. Preferred: CISA, CRMA, or other risk‐related qualifications.
  4. Minimum of 10+ years in internal / external audit, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  5. Experience in aviation, ground handling, airport operations, or logistics industries preferred.
  6. Familiarity with UAE regulatory requirements, airport security, and safety standards is essential.
  7. Proficiency in audit management systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  8. Ability to manage complex audits in a fast‐paced, regulated environment.
  9. Strong leadership and influencing capabilities.
