The Key Objectives For This Role Are- Lead HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) studies, ensuring thorough identification and assessment of potential hazards and operability issues
- Develop and recommend effective risk mitigation measures to enhance safety and operability
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations, such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all relevant information is considered during the studies
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of study findings and recommendations
- Promote continuous improvement in safety practices and processes based on study outcomes
ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities and Responsibilities:HAZOP Facilitation- Lead HAZOP studies for new and existing processes, ensuring thorough identification of hazards and operability issues in line with ADNOC standards
- Develop and maintain a clear agenda for HAZOP sessions to ensure effective and efficient execution
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, operators, and safety professionals, to gather input during workshops
- Document and review HAZOP findings and recommendations
SIL Determination And Verification- Chair SIL assessment workshops to determine appropriate safety integrity levels for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) in line with ADNOC standards
- Guide teams in applying standards like IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 for functional safety
- Ensure the integrity and completeness of SIL-related documentation, including safety requirement specifications (SRS) and other documents in line with IEC 61511 requirements and ADNOC standards
- Ensuring a proper introduction at the beginning of the SIL Determination study and at the beginning of each node
Knowledge About Risk Assessment And Mitigation- Evaluate risks associated with process deviations and propose mitigation measures to reduce risk to acceptable levels
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices and applicable regulatory requirements for process safety management (PSM)
- Track and verify the implementation of agreed-upon risk reduction measures
Leadership And Communication- Serve as the primary point of contact for HAZOP and SIL activities
- Provide technical leadership and advice to project teams on process safety risks
- Effectively communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies
- Have excellent time management, communication and presentation skills
Documentation And Reporting- Prepare and deliver high-quality reports summarizing the findings of HAZOP and SIL workshops
- Take Lead in ensuring all required documentation are available for workshop
- Prepare node markups for PIDs
- Ensure that all studies are properly documented, and records are maintained for audits and compliance purposes
- Maintain a library of lessons learned to improve future risk assessments
- For SIL, ensure SIF list is prepared

Expected- Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemical engineering, Process Engineering for HAZOP, process engineering/instrumentation & control engineering (For SIL) or a related field
- Certification or training in process safety (e.g., TUV, CFSE) is highly desirable
- Certified Function Safety Engineer/Expert (FS/CFSE) for SIL chairman (Preferrable)
Experience- Minimum of 15 years of experience in process safety and risk assessment
- Proven experience leading HAZOP and SIL workshops in industries such as oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, or energy.
- Preferably ADNOC experience
Skills And Knowledge- In-depth knowledge of process safety standards, including IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ADNOC standards and OSHA PSM requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and propose mitigation strategies
- Excellent leadership and facilitation skills to manage multidisciplinary teams during workshops
- Proficiency in using software tools for risk assessment (e.g., PHA Pro, ExSILentia)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
