Due to a rapid increase in student enrolment, we have a February 2025 opening for an ambitious Grade 6 Homeroom Teacher who can inspire and motivate our students! MCIS is looking for a dedicated educator to join us on our continuous journey towards excellence by raising standards, improving outcomes for all learners, and delivering the MCIS core purpose:

This highly motivated teacher will work within the Primary Division (Grades 1-6), which is led by forward-thinking practitioners who are keen to ensure all students achieve to the best of their ability in an enjoyable classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lessons that align with the Alberta Education curriculum for English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, using student-centered teaching practices that support the development of language acquisition.
  • Prepare English Language Learners for success by closing learning gaps.
  • Implement standards-based grading and reporting principles to provide accurate and meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Utilize inquiry-based learning strategies to engage students and enhance their understanding of English Language Arts concepts.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student learning and encourages open communication and collaboration.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to develop and implement cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching teams, clubs, field trips, and school events.
  • Attend professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in teaching.
