Government Relations Director Middle East

About the Role

We are seeking a Government Relations Director to lead and execute our government relations strategy across the Middle East. This role will be instrumental in fostering strategic partnerships with regional governments and regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance, and driving business expansion in key markets.

Key Responsibilities

Government & Regulatory Engagement

  • Develop and maintain high-level relationships with government entities, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate partnerships, secure regulatory approvals, and advocate for policies that support business growth in logistics, warehousing, and e-commerce.
  • Represent the company at government forums, industry summits, and high-level policy discussions.

Policy & Compliance Strategy

  • Monitor political, economic, and regulatory trends across the GCC, providing insights on potential impacts to business operations.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align business practices with evolving regulations.
  • Proactively address compliance challenges, regulatory risks, and crisis situations to safeguard the company's reputation.

Business Expansion & Advocacy

  • Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on government affairs and market entry strategies.
  • Work closely with internal teams to facilitate smooth cross-border operations and regulatory approvals.
  • Advocate for industry best practices and regulatory policies that foster innovation and business growth.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:10+ years in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory strategy within the Middle East, ideally in logistics, e-commerce, technology, or retail.

Education:Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Business, International Relations, or a related field.

Language:Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic proficiency is a plus.

Expertise:

  • Strong network within GCC governments and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to engage and negotiate with government stakeholders to drive business objectives.
  • Deep understanding of GCC regulatory frameworks, trade policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to operate in high-pressure environments and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
