Global Lead Advisor - Container Ports

What we’re looking for

As part of this role, you will have to contribute day-to-day specialist knowledge within your discipline and lead projects that provide technically & commercially focused support and/or service delivery to internal and/or external clients. As a subject matter expert, you will determine solutions for problems within your discipline, where the parameters are not well defined and where previous experience does not provide any precedent.

The role

1. Development of high-quality proposals while managing risk exposure to the business leveraging existing technical capability within LR and external capability integral to supporting and delivering the value propositions.
2. Manage projects within a discipline and ensure they are in accordance with quality system requirements, cost structures, and budgetary/contractual requirements.
3. Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams drawing on wider LR resources to develop integrated strategies and business solutions and provide subject matter expert advice to key clients.
4. Assess/recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an internal/external client within an agreed fee/cost structure.
5. Manage technical and commercial aspects of bid development and project delivery while drawing in expertise from our global LR group.
6. Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
7. Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
8. Mentor/coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
9. Make recommendations based on internal/external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.
10. Provide specialist support/advice within a discipline to internal/external clients.
11. Produce the deliverable within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility for reviewing other employees’ work as appropriate.
12. Discuss/present the deliverable with the internal/external client up to the senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
13. Improve service delivery by communicating internal/external client feedback as appropriate.
14. Develop sustainability key performance indicators, strategies, and management plans for planning and designing projects and implement them throughout the project duration.
15. Support business development with opportunity identification, proposal development, direct and indirect marketing, and thought leadership.
16. Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.

What you bring

1. A bachelor's degree (or master's degree preferred) from a recognized institution within the relevant field of engineering or business.
2. An expert advisor/Subject Matter Expert in Container Ports for a full spectrum of design, engineering, operations, risk management, governance, policies, commissioning, and decommissioning of port assets. Knowledge of Dry/Liquid Bulk Port Terminals, Cruise Terminals, and/or Shipyards would be an added advantage.
3. Industry expert in the discipline with exposure to various Ports stakeholders.
4. Minimum 15 years of industry experience, with at least 7 years of experience in best-in-class consulting & advisory firms.
5. Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
6. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is preferred.
7. Experience in Ports comprehensive risk management, community impact, operational, navigation safety, and Critical Infrastructure studies.
8. Experience conducting analysis (desktop research, data analysis, reviewing documents, interviewing, etc.) and synthesizing into digestible outputs (e.g., reports, presentations).
9. Exposure to Environmental Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance related to various Ports models.
10. Experience in Port planning assessment for consideration of operations in a green environment, Ports Master Plan development & logistics analysis.
11. Exposure to Port capacity assessment, congestion management, digital assessment, and automation.
12. Exposure to Port energy transition, decarbonization strategy, green port infrastructure, and technology integration.
13. Provide expert guidance in selecting the best investments and technical solutions for port operations and infrastructure.
14. Experience working in a ‘Seller-Doer’ environment with a consultative selling skillset.
15. Experience in the development of complex technical reports in line with local/regional regulatory requirements and international best practices.
16. Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (additional languages preferred).
17. Ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients.
18. Strong facilitation skills that are adaptable to different situations and communication styles. Experience with creating business development materials to support projects.
19. Be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other LR or client office locations.
20. Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes. Able to prioritize and work effectively under pressure.
