Job description
- Administer chemotherapy and supportive therapies, ensuring patient safety and comfort during treatments.
- Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions, providing immediate interventions as necessary.
- Educate patients and families about cancer treatment plans, side effects, and lifestyle modifications to enhance well-being.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Perform detailed assessments and maintain accurate medical records to track patient progress and response to treatments.
- Facilitate access to psychosocial support services, addressing emotional and mental health concerns.
- Conduct patient and family education sessions on symptom management and self-care techniques.
- Assist with palliative care measures, focusing on pain relief and quality of life for terminally ill patients.
- Stay updated on the latest oncology practices and guidelines to provide evidence-based care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in the oncology ward.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in oncology nursing, demonstrating proficiency in chemotherapy administration.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) is highly desirable to validate expertise in the field.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation and patient tracking.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of additional languages, such as Spanish or Mandarin, is a plus.
- Strong clinical assessment skills to accurately monitor patient conditions and respond to changes.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Empathy and compassion are crucial for providing holistic support to patients facing cancer treatments.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with composure and make critical decisions quickly.
- Physical stamina is required to meet the demands of a busy oncology ward, including lifting and moving patients.
