General Ledger Management: Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and comply with UAE accounting standards (UAE GAAP, IFRS, etc.). Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier and customer invoices. Handle payment processing and follow-up on overdue accounts as needed.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly. Monitor cash flow and assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts.
Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Support senior management in providing financial analysis and variance reports. Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and prepare relevant reports for tax filings.
Month-End and Year-End Closing: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare detailed and accurate reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements for external auditors.
VAT Compliance: Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws and regulations. Prepare VAT returns and ensure timely filing with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). Maintain records in line with VAT documentation requirements.
Internal Controls: Maintain strong internal controls to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud. Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting materials.
Other Duties: Liaise with banks, auditors, and tax authorities. Assist in ad-hoc financial projects or reporting as required.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or CA) is preferred but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a General Accountant, ideally within the UAE or GCC region. Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and tax filing processes. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes. Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). Experience with UAE VAT and FTA compliance. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication skills in English.
