Gastroenterologists should demonstrate good interpersonal skills as they will be required to attend to patient needs and consult with other specialists. Some of the responsibilities include:

1. Consulting with patients to understand their health concerns.
2. Performing specialized tests to diagnose patients.
3. Determining proper courses of treatment.
4. Consulting with a patient's primary doctor.
5. Analyzing patient historical data.
6. Consulting with other specialists such as oncologists in the case of cancer.
7. Performing endoscopic procedures to inspect internal organs.
8. Performing X-Ray, MRI, and ultrasound scanning.
9. Performing surgery in the digestive tract.

Salary:

Gastroenterologist Requirements:

1. Medical degree.
2. Completion of a three-year internal residency.
3. Completion of a three-year Gastroenterology fellowship.
4. Attainment of certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
5. Proficiency in performing endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures.
6. Proficiency with X-Rays, MRIs, and ultrasound scanning.
7. Attention to detail.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Good interpersonal skills.
