Job description

As the first point of contact for all visitors, members, and staff, the Gym Front Desk Receptionist ensures a smooth, welcoming, and organized experience for everyone. This role is key in managing administrative duties, promoting gym services, maintaining accurate member records, and providing exceptional customer service. The receptionist plays a crucial role in maintaining the gym's positive image by offering friendly and professional support to all members.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Greet and welcome members and guests with a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Respond to inquiries about gym services, membership options, class schedules, and policies.
  3. Address member concerns and resolve issues promptly, escalating to management if necessary.
  4. Ensure members are checked in efficiently and maintain a positive atmosphere.
  5. Answer phone calls, emails, and messages, providing necessary information or redirecting to the appropriate department.
  6. Handle membership sign-ups, cancellations, and renewals, updating the system as needed.
  7. Maintain accurate records of member information, transactions, and class attendance.
  8. Process payments for memberships, classes, merchandise, or other services offered.
  9. Monitor the cleanliness and safety of the front desk area and surrounding spaces.
  10. Ensure the gym environment is welcoming and organized.
  11. Assist in scheduling appointments, personal training sessions, or classes as needed.
  12. Promote gym services, products, and upcoming events to members and prospects.
  13. Help upsell memberships, personal training sessions, or special offers.
  14. Track and report on membership sales, inquiries, and conversions.
  15. Work closely with other gym staff, including trainers, management, and janitorial teams, to ensure smooth operation.
  16. Assist with administrative projects or events organized by the gym.
  17. Contribute to creating a positive, friendly, and professional work environment.

Position Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in customer service or hospitality is a plus.
  2. Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role, preferably in a gym or fitness centre.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  6. Proficiency in basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, gym management software).
  7. Friendly, approachable, and professional manner.
  8. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, if needed.
