Who are we looking for:

An Operation Manager – Freight Forwarding is specialized in the freight forwarding industry and responsible for developing, forecasting, setting up the best operations practices, and building a strong team to ensure efficient functioning of ZAJEL’s operations. The Manager should lead the team to plan, execute, and resolve customers’ issues, complaints, and escalations.

What you’ll do:

As a talented Operation Manager – Freight Forwarding, no two days look the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following duties and responsibilities:

Workflow and Operation Management

  • Establish, develop, and implement internal guidelines, operational policies, procedures, and systems for the operations department to ensure high performance from the department and improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Implement adequate workflow systems, monitoring mechanisms, and control mechanisms to ensure the expected service levels are delivered.
  • Handle customers’ incidents and complaints related to his/her team and handle escalations if any.
  • Monitor the daily operational transactions, check pending inquiries and take corrective action accordingly.
  • Monitor transit time performance against actual performance targets.
  • Modify department work plans according to changes in operations such as leave, holiday, or a heavy workload.
  • Manage freight operations to ensure successful and profitable Air, Sea, & Road Freight services.
  • Implement buying & selling rates for the freight exports.
  • Revise and develop operational standards & procedures.
  • Liaise with governmental & official bodies including Customs, Airlines, Shipping Lines, Border check posts etc. to ensure that the operations are in line with rules & regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics, including productivity, cost, and quality, and develop plans to improve performance.

Liaisons with Other Business Support Units

  • Interact with various business units (Call Center, Customer Service, Express Operations, Fleet and Logistics) to plan and execute Client requirements.

Team Management and Resourcing

  • Oversee all aspects of recruiting, training and continually developing a highly competent and motivated team of operations team members, including strategic plans to ensure staffing is appropriate at all times.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, to ensure that all team members are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Lead these processes effectively – set individual objectives, recruit qualified staff, manage performance, develop and motivate staff, providing formal and informal feedback/appraisal in order to maximize subordinate and functional performance.
  • Coordinate operational activities related to the team such as monitoring and submitting timesheets, leave regulation etc.
  • Mentor operations team and provide 'hands-on' technical leadership as required.

Operations Reports

  • Create daily reports for all services rendered by the operations department and ensure that all services are updated in the system.
  • Prepare timely and accurate operations statements and reports as required.

What makes you unique and a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree is not mandatory but advantageous.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in transportation and logistics management, preferably in a supervisory or management role with freight forwarding experience within a Freight Forwarding company.
  • Ports & Customs regulations experience.
  • Fluent in business English and other language(s) is an advantage.
