Position Overview:

The Freezer Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of freezers and refrigeration equipment used in the storage and distribution of ice cream products. This role requires expertise in refrigeration systems, electrical work, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) skills to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup

• Install new freezers and refrigeration units at company sites or partner locations.
• Ensure proper electrical and plumbing connections for seamless operation.
• Test equipment to verify functionality after installation.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Conduct routine maintenance of refrigeration systems, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and calibrating thermostats.
• Diagnose and repair issues in refrigeration, electrical wiring, and plumbing systems.
• Replace defective parts such as compressors, fans, motors, and temperature controls.

Troubleshooting

• Identify root causes of malfunctions and implement timely solutions.
• Use diagnostic tools and meters to analyze performance and resolve technical problems.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Provide detailed reports on work completed, including recommendations for future improvements.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all refrigeration and electrical systems adhere to safety standards and regulations.
• Follow protocols for handling refrigerants and hazardous materials.
• Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and work environment.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with site managers and operations staff to coordinate maintenance schedules with minimal disruption.
• Provide training to staff on proper use and basic troubleshooting of freezer equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Expertise
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
• Proficient in electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and power distribution.
• Familiarity with plumbing work related to refrigeration units, such as drainage and water line connections.

Certifications

• Diploma or certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• MEP Technician certification or equivalent experience is a plus.

Experience

• At least 3-5 years of experience as a refrigeration or freezer technician, preferably in the food or beverage industry.

Key Skills

• Problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency in using tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and welding equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
• Requires flexibility to work in cold environments and during non-standard hours, including weekends and emergencies.
