Job description

1. Overview - Job Purpose and Objective

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to support the Finance Director in managing the financial operations of the organization. This role is critical in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective financial reporting in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements.

The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing financial reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial planning while ensuring that all accounting and control processes align with best practices.

2. Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS.
  • Oversee financial closing processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure robust internal controls over financial reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to support business decision-making.

Regulatory & Compliance Management

  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements, particularly SCA (preferred), DFSA/FSRA regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and corporate governance policies.
  • Liaise with regulators, auditors, and external advisors to ensure smooth reporting and audit processes.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring financial controls and processes meet audit standards.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director to assess and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure documentation of all financial transactions in line with audit best practices.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and capital requirements, ensuring financial stability.
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts and treasury management strategies.
  • Optimize working capital management and oversee banking relationships.

Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the Finance Director in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Analyze financial performance, key metrics, and business trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Improve financial efficiency through cost optimization and process enhancements.

3. Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have: Expertise in IFRS.
  • Must have: Experience in a Big 4 or Big 10 audit firm within the last three years (3-4 years in audit required).
  • Must have: Financial services industry background (Banks, Brokerage houses, or similar institutions).
  • Must have: Regulatory reporting experience, with preference for SCA (DFSA/FSRA experience also acceptable).
  • Preferred: Arabic speaker.
  • Qualified accountantACCA, CPA, or CA.
  • 7-8 years of total experience, with a minimum of 3-4 years in audit and subsequent experience in financial services.
