Roles and Responsibilities

To ensure that the accounting department operates smoothly and efficiently while adhering to the standards required by corporate policies, the Financial Accountant is responsible for analyzing the balance sheets, cash flows, and P&L statements for abnormalities. She/he will oversee the payroll process and accounts payable. The Financial Accountant must act as the Chief Accountant during his/her absence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the completion and distribution of daily in-house reports.
  • Assist in checking the daily operation package for completeness before routing to the Director of Finance and General Manager.
  • Assist the General Cashier in performing surprise float counts.
  • Prepare outlet gratuity reconciliation and submit it to the paymaster for payment.
  • Analyze and monitor all balance sheet accounts accurately and timely according to policy.
  • Perform complete month-end closing activities together with the Chief Accountant.
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end journals and closing entries in accordance with policies & procedures.
  • Verify cash deposits, payroll, and cash clearing accounts to avoid discrepancies.
  • Ensure that general ledger (GL) and sub-ledger (SL) postings are accurate and that GL and SL balances correspond, clearing all contra/clearance accounts at month-end.
  • Supervise assigned Finance sections, ensuring timely submission of all related reports and compliance with all policies & procedures.
  • Be responsible for all month-end deadlines and schedules.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all related reports to management and owning companies, complying with all policies & procedures.
  • Maintain an updated and accurate Chart of Accounts in the Accounting System.
  • Maintain close communication with public auditors, communicating instructions for the preparation of internal and external audits, and preparing all necessary data and documents in conjunction with the Chief Accountant, Assistant Director of Finance, and Director of Finance.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the accounting regulations of the region where the hotel is located.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the contents of all volumes of the Policies & Procedures.
  • Supervise the filing and maintenance of all accounting-related documents and records in accordance with the document retention policy.
  • Assist in General Cashier, Income Audit, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable functions as required.
  • Assist in the monthly preparation and filing of the business taxes of the Hotel in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all tax matters are treated properly and in compliance with related legislation.
  • Attend seminars for tax updates.
  • Cover secretarial duties as necessary.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Desired Candidate Profile

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA, CMA, or other Accounting certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in the hospitality sector (Finance accounting).
  • Excellent knowledge of various PMS, POS, Purchasing, Payroll, Accounting, and Reporting Systems (preferably Springer Miller System, Infogenesis, Moreton Bay, Oasys, SUN System, and Hyperion Planning).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must have analytical skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have leadership skills.
