Financial Accountant

Gemcorp Group are at an important stage in their development, expanding its fund management and commodity trading businesses in the Middle East and Africa. The finance team is in the process of transforming its internal processes and systems to best enable them to service the business as it expands.

The role of the Financial Accountant is key to this development at Gemcorp ICS. You will support the Financial Controller and the rest of the Finance Team, with responsibilities including Financial accounting, Financial reporting and preparation of statutory Financial Statements in addition to preparing the local tax and regulatory reporting submissions to UAE and KSA regulators.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist in the month-end close process adhering to Group Finance reporting deadlines.
• Assist in the preparation and reconciliations required for the month end management accounts process and broader management information packs.
• Maintain appropriate accounting records, related transactions, payments and inquiries to satisfy local and group wide finance teams/jurisdictions.
• Assist in maintaining and enhancing the controls and governance across the financial accounting and reporting processes.
• Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.
• Assist with accounts payable related tasks on a weekly basis.
• Respond to inquiries from other internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of local and prudential regulatory returns to local regulatory bodies.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns in compliance with UAE and KSA tax regulations.
• Work with other members of the finance team to enhance the data flow between front office systems and the general ledger.
• Other ad hoc finance related project deliverables and assignments with an emphasis on enhancing and automating the finance function.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Newly qualified accountant out of practice or +1 years PQE.
• Microsoft Business Central and Microsoft Power BI experience.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience of working in a commercial finance role with an understanding of a commodities business.
• Experience and understanding of a month end close process in addition to financial reporting.
• Experience of working in a complex organisation with lots of change.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, confident communicator, comfortable at all levels of the business.
• Excellent analytical skills, with ability to think independently and draw conclusions.
