Roles and Responsibilities
  • A Finance Intern is typically a student or recent graduate gaining hands-on experience in the field of finance. During the internship, they assist with a variety of tasks related to financial analysis, accounting, reporting, and other key areas within a company’s finance department. This role provides an opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the finance industry and develop the necessary skills for a career in finance.

  • Conduct thorough cost center analysis to help identify spending trends, potential cost savings, and areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in the creation of financial reports, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and delivered in a timely manner to support business decisions.
  • Design and develop clear and impactful presentations to communicate financial data and insights to both the finance team and broader audiences, including management and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect relevant financial information and ensure consistency and precision in all financial documentation.
  • Support the finance department with additional tasks and projects related to budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis as needed.

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information in an understandable manner.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role is beneficial but not mandatory.

Desired Candidate Profile

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Assisting with Financial Reports: Helping to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Data Entry and Spreadsheet Management: Using software like Excel or Google Sheets to enter, organize, and analyze financial data (e.g., accounts payable/receivable, balance sheets, income statements).
  • Reconciling Accounts: Assisting with reconciling bank accounts, credit card statements, or financial discrepancies to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Budget Tracking: Helping track departmental or project budgets and ensuring spending aligns with financial forecasts.

Bookkeeping and Accounting Support

  • Invoicing: Assisting with the creation and tracking of invoices for customers, ensuring timely payments and accurate documentation.
  • Expense Reports: Reviewing and processing expense reports submitted by employees to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with Journal Entries: Helping prepare journal entries and ensure proper accounting procedures are followed in recording financial transactions.

Assisting with Audits and Compliance

  • Audit Preparation: Supporting the team in preparing for internal or external audits by gathering required documentation, verifying financial statements, and ensuring all necessary reports are in order.
  • Compliance Support: Ensuring that financial practices align with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations, such as tax laws or financial reporting requirements.

Financial Modeling and Forecasting

  • Data Collection for Models: Assisting with the collection and organization of data needed to build financial models, such as sales projections, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Cash Flow Analysis: Helping to monitor and track the company’s cash flow, identifying trends or issues that could impact financial stability.
  • Variance Analysis: Assisting with variance analysis by comparing actual results with budgeted or forecasted results and helping explain the differences.

Research and Market Analysis

  • Industry Research: Conducting research on industry trends, competitors, or financial markets to support strategic decision-making.
  • Company Analysis: Helping evaluate the financial health of potential investment opportunities or business acquisitions.
  • Preparing Presentations: Assisting in preparing presentations or reports for senior management, investors, or clients with data-driven insights.

Supporting Financial Transactions

  • Transaction Monitoring: Helping track financial transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, or investments, ensuring they are documented and processed properly.
  • Assist with Payroll: Supporting payroll processing by helping to verify employee hours, benefits, and deductions in line with financial regulations.

Risk Management and Financial Strategy

  • Risk Analysis Support: Assisting in identifying and evaluating financial risks and their potential impact on business operations or investment strategies.
  • Strategic Support: Assisting senior finance team members in developing and executing strategies for improving the company’s financial performance.
