Job description

Job Responsibilities

  1. To be responsible for taking decision on project work being carried out inside the hospital premises.
  2. Responsible for upgrading and modernization of utility equipment in various areas.
  3. Dealing with government organizations and other establishments in relation with maintenance department.
  4. Responsible for planning, costing and execution of various projects inside the hospital premises.
  5. Taking policy decision in co-ordination with the management.
  6. To be responsible to look after the welfare of the staff in the department.
  7. Fixing of contractors for specific jobs with the help of system-in-charge.
  8. Long-term planning in taking up renovation/modifications.
  9. Responsible to prepare and project budget for maintenance activities.
  10. To contribute to Quality initiatives.
  11. To train the staff for effective application and up-gradation of equipment.
  12. Conveying day-to-day meeting of engineers/supervisors and analyzing problems and finding solutions.
  13. To co-ordinate with other departments for different projects.
  14. To analyze the day-to-day problems which are recurring in nature and finding solutions for the same.
  15. To do the appraisal of the staff with the help of Assistant Engineer and System In charges.
  16. To analyze the complaints and take necessary actions.
  17. To take personnel decisions regarding the staff.
  18. To be responsible for disciplined departmental functioning.
  19. To perform any job/work as and when assigned by the superior.
  20. To set up specific targets in the departments.
  21. To see work related problems faced by Technicians/supervisors and finding solutions.
  22. To manage the respective section in day-to-day activities.
  23. To carry out all routine, preventive maintenance scheduling.
  24. To organize manpower, materials for the day-to-day activities.
  25. To assign work for technicians.
  26. To overlook the contract jobs in the respective fields.
  27. To be a member of the FMS committee and to contribute actively.
  28. To identify risk factors and take necessary actions.
  29. Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
  30. Work in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
  31. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  32. Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
  33. Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
  34. Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
  35. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  36. Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that any workplaces they manage or control are safe and without risks to health, safety or the environment.
  37. Ensure implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies and standards.
  38. Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
  39. Designating a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
  40. Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/ management meetings.
  41. Ensure provision of OSH information, training and supervision.
  42. Implement and monitor effectiveness of risk management program.
  43. Maintain building and facility in a safe manner.
  44. Prepare building management plans and budgets.
  45. Prepare for and participate in Emergency management program.
  46. Provide expert advice and information in building and facilities OSH matters.
  47. Support to develop objectives and monitor achievement of objectives and compliance with HAAD Health Sector OSHMS requirements across all departments.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. A Diploma/graduate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or its equivalent.
  2. 5 to 10 years’ experience in the relevant field.
  3. With management skills, interpersonal skills, time management, knowledge of equipment and maintenance, analytical skills.
  4. Good English spoken and written, Arabic language advantageous, desirable, but not essential.
