The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our EY Law practice as a Data Protection Lawyer where you will have the chance to work with many high-profile organizations on a range of diverse and interesting legal advisory projects that span a multitude of countries and borders as you advise clients on data protection laws.

Your key responsibilities

1. Manage the successful delivery of legal advisory projects related to data protection laws and regulations, particularly the GDPR, UAE PDPL, and KSA PDPL.
2. Independently draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements and policies such as privacy and cookies policies, data processing agreements, data sharing agreements, data protection frameworks, and governance manuals.
3. Conduct data protection impact assessments, compliance rules, data breach response & management, and keep up with changes in data protection laws and regulations.
4. Provide advice related to data transfer rules and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
5. Advise clients regarding hosting and data localization requirements.
6. Deliver training and awareness programs for the client’s employees.

Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for someone who will create a distinctive and differentiated law brand with us: this role is best suited for aspiring law professionals who have worked in established law firms in the MENA region, and who wish to continue developing their career with this greenfield opportunity by being part of a growing team looking to create a new and successful legal practice.

As such, you should have a solid understanding of data protection regulations and the ability to provide expert legal advice to ensure compliance with these laws, especially those related to GDPR, UAE PDPL, DIFC and ADGM data protection laws, and KSA PDPL.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 4 years of experience as a qualified lawyer from a reputable legal practice environment with a focus on data protection laws.
• Strong understanding of data protection principles and practices.
• Excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent English communication, collaboration, self-management, and project management skills.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Certification in data protection.
• Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken.
