ALEC also possesses a Design and Build capability, which enables us to provide integrated construction solutions to our clients.

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced ESG Manager to join our team.

Supply Chain Environmental Due Diligence Manager

As a Supply Chain Due Diligence Manager, you will work as a vital member of the ESG team and ensure the environmental sustainability of ALEC Group's supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise subcontractors and suppliers based on categories and conduct comprehensive due diligence assessments on them to evaluate their environmental performance.
  • Review public information including third-party ratings, environmental reports, news articles, and social media.
  • Utilise existing digital tools to administer questionnaires to gather additional or specific information on environmental practices and policies in alignment with QAQC, HSE, Worker Welfare, and Procurement teams.
  • Assess and rank subcontractor and supplier performance against established environmental criteria.
  • Provide recommendations to the procurement and tendering team on vendor selection based on environmental due diligence assessments.
  • Collaborate with procurement and ERP teams to ensure that environmental considerations are integrated into the vendor selection process.
  • Identify suitable areas for improvement in supplier environmental performance.
  • Analyze data to track trends and initiate deep dives to detect opportunities.
  • Develop action plans for suppliers & subcontractors in coordination with them as well as ALEC Group's procurement & operations teams to address identified gaps by determining root cause and leading remediation efforts in collaboration with operations teams and drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor progress on action plans and provide feedback to suppliers.
  • Training and Capacity Building:
  • Partner with suppliers and stakeholders to coordinate implementation of capacity building materials and tools.
  • Conduct training programs for subcontractors and suppliers on environmental and governance criteria.
  • Provide guidance and support to suppliers in implementing best practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders during the Audit Process, re-establishing expectations around their roles and responsibilities.
  • Define and execute on standard communication pathways for all stakeholders and identify escalation procedures.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on the environmental performance of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide insights to management on the overall environmental sustainability of the supply chain.
  • Work with IT, ERP, and digital construction innovation teams to simplify, digitise and integrate data & feedback into procurement teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Percentage of suppliers and subcontractors assessed annually.
  • Number of suppliers and subcontractors meeting or exceeding environmental standards.
  • Reduction in environmental risks associated with the supply chain.
  • Completion rate of action plans for supplier improvement.
  • Number of training programs conducted and participants trained.
  • Improvement in overall supplier environmental performance ratings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management or supply chain sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of local & international environmental regulations and standards.
  • Experience in conducting due diligence assessments and risk assessments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Carbon Accounting experience.
  • UAE or KSA Construction, Real Estate, Oil & Gas experience is a must.
  • Risk assessment and management.
  • Data analysis and reporting.
  • Project management.
  • Training and facilitation.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent Arabic communication skills (verbal and written) would be advantageous.
  • ESG Ratings, Ecovadis assessment experience would be advantageous.

Other Skills:

  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, multitask and prioritise with minimal supervision.
  • Confident and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • Ability to work accurately, with attention to detail.
