JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently inviting expressions of interest for the Senior Engineer Occupational Health & Contractor HSE & Welfare Management position to be based in Abu Dhabi for a PMC downstream project.

Job Objectives:

  • Contribute to the delivery of engineering excellence through the definition and approval of technical scopes.
  • Execute assigned scopes of work.
  • Provide technical expertise to the business.
  • Contribute to business growth.
  • May manage and supervise teams and/or act as a technical specialist.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
  • Direct preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
  • Ensure successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
  • Participate in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
  • Evaluate problems, organize investigations and establish general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc.
  • Check engineering calculations and all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; assist with the development of less senior Technical Professionals.
  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline-specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
  • Perform complex engineering tasks related to specific units of major projects.
  • Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews, and other workshops as required.


Providing discipline expertise:

  • Solve problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches.
  • Modify established guidelines, devise new approaches, and apply existing criteria in new ways.
  • Regularly function as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problem or project.
  • Produce innovative ideas and solve problems requiring development of new approaches.
  • Anticipate potential problems and take the initiative to solve complex problems.
  • Exercise mature professional judgement in identifying the implications of experimental results.
  • Understand customer needs and apply technical solutions to meet goals.


Supporting and Supervising task delegation to team:

  • May supervise a small work group consisting of technical/professional staff.
  • Assist in performing managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasks to engineers and attending project meetings.
  • Discuss with other senior engineers to agree on priorities and implications on the work of others.
  • Approve work schedules and make recommendations for increased resources and special equipment.
  • Coordinate the activities of engineering and design groups assigned to small projects.
  • Participate in developing deadlines, projects, and work to be done.
  • May manage one or more small projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resources allocation, and risk.
  • Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with HSE related specialization or equivalent discipline, e.g. Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, majority in onshore downstream projects.
  • Preferably with ADNOC PMC project experience.
  • Able to work with other disciplines to meet delivery dates and design targets.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in HSE roles with a focus on occupational health, industrial hygiene, and contractor HSE & welfare management.
  • Experience in upstream/downstream operations, construction, petrochemicals, and refinery on HSE matters.
  • Familiar with ADNOC HSE Standards and applicable UAE Regulations.
