About this role:
Ensure that the organization adheres to local, national, and international environmental laws, standards, and regulations.
Liaise with regulatory bodies to stay updated on evolving environmental compliance requirements.
Drive sustainability initiatives to minimize resource consumption, reduce waste, and promote renewable energy use.
Advise management on sustainable practices and green technologies.
Identify environmental risks associated with operations, processes, or projects.
Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce the organization’s environmental impact.
Promote environmental awareness and sustainability within the organization.
Conduct training sessions for employees on environmental policies and best practices.
Monitor and ensure adherence to environmental laws, such as waste disposal regulations, emissions standards, and water use guidelines.
Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) and policies.
Regularly review and update environmental policies to align with best practices and legal requirements.
Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify potential risks or violations.
Prepare detailed audit reports and recommend corrective actions.
Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) for new projects or changes in operations.
Monitor ongoing operations to evaluate their environmental impact and suggest improvements.
Oversee the proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Develop and promote waste reduction, reuse, and recycling programs.
Implement programs to conserve energy, water, and other natural resources.
Monitor resource usage and recommend efficiency measures.
Develop strategies to control air, water, and soil pollution caused by organizational activities.
Monitor emissions and ensure they are within permissible limits.
Investigate environmental incidents, such as chemical spills or non-compliance events.
Prepare detailed incident reports and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, and community groups regarding environmental concerns.
Represent the organization in public forums, hearings, and environmental discussions.
Maintain accurate records of environmental activities, including compliance reports, impact assessments, and audit findings.
Develop presentations and reports for senior management to communicate environmental performance.
Develop and implement plans to respond to environmental emergencies such as spills, leaks, or natural disasters.
Train employees on emergency response procedures related to environmental hazards.
Collaborate with procurement teams to source eco-friendly materials and services.
Support initiatives such as green building certifications, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable supply chain practices.
Organize workshops and training sessions for employees to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
Educate staff on topics like waste segregation, energy efficiency, and compliance requirements.
Stay updated on emerging environmental technologies and practices.
Conduct research to explore innovative solutions for environmental challenges within the organization.
In addition to all job-specific responsibilities, all employees are required to adhere to all Basatin health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, practices, and relevant legal and statutory health, safety and environmental requirements and obligations. All employees are personally responsible to familiarize themselves with these policies, procedures, practices, updates, etc. Khidmah HSE department regularly updates existing and introduces new policies, procedures and practices and each employee is personally responsible to ensure they stay updated and compliant with all such updates and new additions.
