Environmental Manager

Roles and Responsibilities

The job holder shall be responsible for the management of segments of the environment, and implementing the sustainability management plans for concerned BUs covering green procurement, green mobility etc. Also collecting and compiling the sustainability related data, preparation of periodical reports and statements etc.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

1. Develop Sustainability & Environment goals, objectives, initiatives, strategies etc. that are aligned with UAE strategic plans including circular economy, net zero etc.
2. Measure and report Sustainability & Environment performance.
3. Developing and implementation of green building, communities Codes and standards.
4. Review and revise Sustainability & Environment reports, policies, regulatory and technical guidelines related to sustainability & Environment.
5. Identify, develop and monitor new Sustainability & Environment indicators.
6. Identify or investigate violations of natural resources, waste management, recycling, or other environmental policies.
7. Provide technical or administrative support for Sustainability & Environment programs or issues.
8. Create, implement and maintain actionable plans and documents related to environment and sustainability.
9. Inspect, monitor and develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of Sustainability & Environment initiatives.
10. Liaise with Marketing Department to outreach media, such as brochures or web sites, to communicate Sustainability & Environmental achievements.
11. Coordinate with team for waste management, green building regulation.
12. Assess or propose Sustainability & Environment initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
13. Monitor Sustainability & Environment indicators, such as for energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, recycling and diversion.
14. Perform energy audit, Implement Energy Conservation Measures.
15. Training and Education for external and internal stakeholders.
16. Renewable energy project proposals and implementation.
17. Compilation of sustainability data, data analytics and preparation of Sustainability & Environment reporting.
18. Technical evaluation, review and approval of material submissions.
19. Sustainability communities and building audits and inspections.

About You

The ideal candidate will have the below qualifications and experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, etc.). Candidate with master’s degree will be preferred.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sustainability & Environment related fields.
3. Certified in any three like ISO 14001/9001/50001, LEED, WELL, BREEAM, CEM, or similar.
4. Working experience in Sustainability / ESG reporting.
5. Experience in energy modelling, energy audits etc.

8. Change Management: Ability to drive cultural and operational change towards more sustainable practices within the organization.
9. Crisis Management: Competence in managing environmental crises, including contamination events or compliance issues.
10. Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting and financial management as it relates to environmental projects and initiatives.
11. Innovation: Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions for sustainability challenges, including new technologies or practices.
12. Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to work effectively across departments and with external partners to achieve environmental objectives.
