We are looking for an Environment, Health & Safety Officer to join the American University in the Emirates who will be responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in the university and ensuring the safety of students and staff on campus.

Qualifications & Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field from an accredited university
Experience:
2 to 5 years of relevant experience
Skills / Training / Knowledge:
Ability to multi-task
Preferably bilingual (speaks English and Arabic fluently)
Proven working experience in maintaining and accuracy of records
Ability to work under pressure and flexible with work timings
Communication and influencing skills, in person and in writing
Team oriented, strong willed, attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to college operations and activities
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
Knowledge of Fire and Safety systems and equipment
Job Description:
Assist in the development, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and continual improvement of the Health and Safety Management System (HSE Manual, policies, procedures, and guidelines)
Report to the Facility Manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing effective HSE policies to ensure department objectives and operations are met.
Conduct risk assessments to determine the vulnerabilities of the university on the existing hazards and activities being undertaken in order to perform tasks required.
Collaborate and coordinate with the investigating team and submit reports of the facts arising from incidents, submitting corrective and preventive action reports to the Director of Facility Management for the purposes of preventing the reoccurrence of incidents.
Assist in the development of the annual HSE training plan.
Participate in External and Internal Audits.
Assist in the development of a crisis and emergency management action plan.
Support the implementation of events processes in relation to health and safety for its success with considerable innovation and creativity.
Support changes in the organization, process, equipment, materials, legal requirements, and health and safety products in relation to HSE requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
