Wood is currently looking for an Engineering Coordinator to join our team in Sharjah, UAE.
The key responsibility for this role is to be the engineering design focal point for the project. This role is to ensure coordination between the technical disciplines, project management & project services, the client project and operations/maintenance teams, 3rd parties and other key project stakeholders.
- This is a Home Office position based in Sharjah, but it will involve occasional visits to the Workshare, Client offices and/or site in Iraq.
- The candidate will assume responsibility for the delivery of detailed engineering and design scopes of work on the brownfield projects associated with a specific area (Asset) within the Contract.

Key Accountabilities
Coordination and Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project engineering matters, clarifications, and Client communication.
- Interface with Site and respond to site queries.
- Liaise with the Client's Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance staff to ensure stakeholder requirements are addressed.
Team Support and Management
- Assist in managing multi-discipline engineering and design teams.
- Provide guidance and direction to team members.
- Support performance management and development of team members.
Technical Support
- Coordinate technical queries, engineering issues, and risks.
- Provide technical advice and solutions to project-related problems.
- Participate in project safety and design reviews.
Project Delivery
- Ensure compliance with project change control procedures.
- Coordinate with Vendors and technology providers for integrated technical solutions.
- Identify areas of concern regarding progress and/or quality, implementing corrective actions.
Safety and Quality
- Promote safe behavior at all times.
- Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and Wood/Client procedures.
Qualifications:
- Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.). Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years' experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Minimum of 10+ years proven capability in an engineering design company in the role of an Engineering Coordinator, responsible for coordinating multi-discipline teams. Experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, and commissioning would be an advantage.
Personal Attributes:
- Demonstrated leadership experience and previous track record of successfully supervising multi-national and multi-cultural project teams.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of detailed engineering design and project delivery.
- Awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
- Experience with company business management system and quality assurance processes.
- Experience of the application design and safety reviews, including HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Rating to Engineering Design.
