The ELL/EAL Teacher will support English Language Learners (EAL/ELL) in developing academic language proficiency to succeed in the British curriculum, in alignment with GEMS School of Research and Innovation's (SRI) multilingual, research-based, and globally connected approach. Utilizing cutting-edge digital language tools, interactive learning platforms, and structured intervention programs, they will provide targeted instruction and differentiated support. The role involves close collaboration with classroom teachers, the Inclusion team, and leadership to integrate language development across subjects. Additionally, they will engage with parents and external specialists to ensure a holistic, future-focused language learning experience.

Person Specifications:

  • UK approved ELL/EAL qualification relevant to working with young people and children in a school environment and a relevant PGCE
  • 3 years experience as an ELL/EAL Teacher in an international setting within a high-performing school
  • Experience working in a through-school environment (age 3-18) is preferred
  • A track record of improving the ELL/EAL provision in a school setting
  • Up to date knowledge of best practice in ELL/EAL and current policy in UAE, UK and globally
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with parents, leadership teams, and external partners
  • Commitment to research-driven, future-focused, and student-centered education, in line with GEMS School of Research and Innovation values
  • A passion for inclusion, ELL/EAL and equity, ensuring all students can thrive in an academically challenging and supportive environment
