Electromechanical Technician
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Assembly: Assemble, install, and integrate electromechanical equipment, such as motors, sensors, controllers, and other electrical components in machines. Follow technical drawings and specifications to assemble systems.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and safely. Troubleshoot electrical circuits, mechanical parts, and electronic systems to diagnose and fix faults. Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, circuit boards, and wiring, to restore equipment to operational condition.
- Testing and Calibration: Use testing equipment to check the functionality and safety of electromechanical systems. Calibrate instruments and machines to ensure they are working within required specifications.
- Automation and Control Systems: Install and troubleshoot automation systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, and industrial robots. Maintain and program control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment. Ensure that work is carried out in compliance with local and national electrical codes and industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used, often using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Report on system failures, repairs, and upgrades to management.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including wiring, motors, sensors, and actuators.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and control systems.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
- Proficient in using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems for diagnostics and control.
Education and Requirements:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, often followed by technical training or an associate degree in electromechanical technology, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or other relevant credentials may be required or preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years’ experience as a journeyman plumber/Pipe Fitter.
