Electrical Technician

The Data Center Facilities Electrical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all Electrical, ELV, Generators and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency.

This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting and interacting with onsite Engineers and any third party vendors.

They are expected to be a single focal point for all facility operations within a given data center.

The Technician should be able to support the DC-operations for delivering 99.999% uptime.

This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, and building automation systems like BMS, DCIM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine building maintenance tasks and daily visual inspections on major data center equipment.
• Check healthiness of all facilities equipment (UPS, LV Panels, Switchgears, Busway systems, BMS, DCIM, Controllers, ELV Systems) and maintain daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Repair and maintain a wide range of electrical equipment.
• Conduct ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility electrical and ELV systems.
• Maintain and operate all electrical systems and associated equipment.
• Perform facility inspections and report on conditions affecting operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
• Create job cards in CAFM (FSI) Mobile App as per site requirements and close the assigned job cards.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
• Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken.
• Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, electrical systems, ELV systems, fire/life safety, and other systems.
• Comply with HSE norms and understand the PTW process.
• Work in shifts (24X7).
• Drive the operational requirements with minimum supervision and guidance.
• Understand the criticality of business uptime to serve the data center facility operations.
• Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
• Maintain an essential stock of spare parts.
• Support any after-hours building needs and activities as required.
• Attend training sessions and seminars.
• Perform other assigned tasks as requested.

Skills Required:

• Good knowledge of power systems (UPS's, Control Panels, DB’s, Busway systems, Generators).
• Basic knowledge of cooling systems (HVACs, Chillers, Fire and safety, BMS, ELV Systems).
• Working knowledge of UPS systems and associated switchgear and Distribution Panels.
• Working knowledge of standby generator systems and associated switchgear.
• Skill in installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components.

Personal Skills for All Technicians:

• Basic English knowledge is required.
• Basic working knowledge of PC systems and CAFM Mobile Apps.
• Persistent and self-motivated.
• Excellent organizational skills and initiative to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• Diploma/ITI in Electrical and Electronics.
• 3 years of experience in Integrated Data Center Facilities Management Field.
• 2 years of experience in Data Center Electrical Commissioning/Testing field.
